Pressure
The project was conceived as a study of the anatomy of human sounds. During its development, I experienced a great deal of stress related to the war and ongoing mobilisation.
The project explores stress and its physical manifestations. In my work, I translate psychological stress into physical tension by asking participants to clench their fists until they experience pain. By recording the sounds of their muscles, I aim to convey both physical and psychological stress through sound and video, creating a sense of discomfort for the viewer.
Through this experience, I want viewers to physically sense the discomfort experienced by the participants. The work challenges stereotypes surrounding masculinity, particularly the expectation that men should endure pain and suppress their emotions, and aims to show how harmful these expectations can be.
